What made you happy today?
Got my confirmation booking email from Club Old Bar Motel, for the 2025 October long weekend.

Good to plan ahead, for essential things like the Beach Festival, and Kombifest.  Rolleyes

We booked for next year on the way out too…..
Kinda hoping the tariffs don’t increase again but I’m not holding my breath.
The office wouldn’t take a deposit as they couldn’t confirm rates until Feb. next year.
I didn’t quite understand that logic….but was assured that we are confirmed on our usual footprint.
Emails requesting deposits will be sent early in the new year, pending tariff confirmation.
All part of the Ingenia experience I guess……. Tongue
Cheers,
Mark

My motel booking even states the same tariff as this year, on the confirmation. No deposit required, and full payment by card on the day of arrival again…… Shy

The logic is you have committed to the same spot but they hold out on the price Sad

After your committment what do you think will happen to price for others?

It's FULL. Now we set the price for the remaining sites. Supply & Demand curves run by Oligopilies/Monopilies.

See the trouble debstar had with Merimbula pricing!

The buy up of coastal parks by Ingenia or NRMA/Stiks will lead to another monopoly situation like Woolies/Coles.

Happy I free camp away from the coast but I have booked for Old Bar next year with Club Old Bar.

Cheers

Yeah....whatever....
Old Bar Beach Festival only happens once a year, it's well worth whatever the tariff will be.
Can't put a price on sitting around with mates playing guitars, surfing with folks I only ever see at Old Bar, enjoying a few bevies with like minded folk, etc. etc.
I know the costs are increasing ....but what price does one put on this type of experience ?

Priceless, in my opinion.
Life is too short to penny pinch on gatherings like Old Bar.
Cheers,
Mark

I don’t agree. Since the Covid travel lockdowns, many places suffered badly, and have tried to recoup funds to stay alive.

Woolies / Coles increased their profits in the same time.

Any accommodation establishment, everywhere will increase their price for peak periods or special events - even Club Old Bar Motel rates are 25 - 30% higher, on the October Long Weekend.

Look at booking a few nights in Melbourne, walking distance to Albert Park, at a place that usually charges $150 per night, yet come Aus Grand Prix weekend, and you’ll pay $800 per night, with a minimum 5 night stay!

So we either pay the asking price, when announced, or just stay home and drool at the fun others are having.

Easy choice…….

What made me happy today ?
Waking up and celebrating 43 years of marriage to my wonderful wife.......
It's not always been easy ........but always worth the effort to smoothen out the occasional bumps.
Lovely dinner at a local place overlooking the surf, a cocktail or two, a bottle of wine ...... Heart

Life is good.
Cheers,
Mark
