Road Trip!!
#21
Except the first ones we’re wearing Paddy Palin head to toe, with dual walking sticks, eating a banana, trail mix and sipping water from a battered canteen

Should’ve asked them where they’d left their skis…….
Cheers,

After Freycinet we travelled up to Launceston through Derby, Scottsdale and Weldsborough.
Should have stopped and taken more pics but we were a bit time poor as we faffed around over another leisurely breakfast

Stopped off at Iron House for a quick ale and a couple of souvenirs

Derby is a wonderful (very) little town that has reinvented itself as a bike town.

Bike stuff everywhere

Lucky I carried some spare beers in the fridge

Scottsdale has a cracking pub

Launceston was taken up with bush walks and restaurants

They have one of the best wetlands there

Swans out for a family walk

At least a dozen Royal Spoonbills

There were hawks of all sorts, sea eagles, blue wrens, fan tails and so many more

The George is always a great walk

Off to Evandale today to have a look around.
If I ever moved to Tasmania this would be my pick.

Then drop them at the airport and up the back road to Devonport for the boat trip home

Well, I’m back home.
We did 3,172kms for 360L of fuel for an average of 8.8km/L

The T3 went really well……………….ish.

The fuel troubles I had been having raised its head on the first day in Mel’burg when it started to miss in peak hour.
Luckily I was close to a Repco and picked up another pump and filter.
Filled up and headed to Port Melbourne to board the Spirit.
Ran well the next day when we were heading down the back roads and it started to miss again at the end of the day.
Finally cut out, outside a petrol station.
Filled again, and ran well again.

Gave my mechanic a call and he told me that there was still sand in there and this was causing the missing.
Told me to fill up at 200 - 250kms and don’t drive for 450kms.
Worked a treat and we purred for the rest of the trip.

So - I have bought another tank from Mick’s Motors and will be putting that in.

Hopefully I will finally solve my issue and will be able to drive with confidence through muddy roads out Hill End way again.

Thanks for taking us on the journey Barry. I hear lots of great reports on Tassie. I love the show Rosehaven and the locations where they filmed always looked appealing.
As for the looks with the beers... I'd be #2. Big Grin
