Have been working on the beetle for too long. With a couple of months' notice, I finished it off.
Trailered it down from CQ and drove the car from Camden to Botany then to Carlton and back to Randwick for the reception.
So special
. Good onya legend

Another memory made.

Today I replaced replaced a split CV boot. I started early, got the drive shaft off, CV joints off and cleaned, new boots on and put together, greased her up and installed in just under two hours. Super happy with that, but it is still too early for a beer to celebrate, so I had a celebratory bacon sandwich instead.

I noticed that the belt was tight on the '75 L a few months ago. Decided on Saturday to loosen it off. Went to tighten the nut and the shaft turned. Found out that I had been driving around without the woodruff key. That could have been disastrous. Monday go to Vintage Vee Dub Supplies to get a key and buy a new alternator belt to replace the incorrect generator belt that was fitted. Tuesday fitted the new belt but only had 7 washers to adjust the belt. Luckily a local friend had some spares so my 5 minute job ended up taking 4 days. All because someone didn't know what they were doing. The story of second hand VWs.
