Natures Special Moments

Joseph was impressed finding a thick layer of ice in a bucket of water he had added rose petals to the day before and Gracie rescued this little snail, incredibly still alive under a layer of ice in the birdbath!  Heart

It’s so nice to see SOME PEOPLE are enjoying these sub zero mornings! Well done!  Big Grin

Haha! The novelty wore off a lot faster for myself than the kids, Grant!  Big Grin

This morning’s walk to the bus stop was less pleasant with a decent frost then the wind picked up and blew right in our faces… brrr! To make matters worse, returned back to the house to let the chooks out, only to find Princess Layer (had to be Gracie’s favourite didn’t it!) had been taken by a fox. Sad
Positive side to the story, Foxy Loxy ended up trapped and won’t be bothering the chickens, or any other wildlife again.

We are experiencing record lows ATM and I hate it! It’s currently 5am and 13deg and I really don’t want to get up to make brekky. We have even had to put the heating on twice!
I remember as a child peeling the blankets off the wall as our fibro house was freezing and the only heating was the combustion stove in the kitchen. Kind of like sleeping in Blue Bus with it’s unlined tin walls in the middle of Winter  Undecided  I think I’ve got soft in my old age.

I have a really simple, effective hot shower setup for when I come out of the surf on cold mornings.
Quite funny when fellas with their luxury SUVs are shivering as they struggle to get out of their wetsuits in a freezing SW wind, post surf. They stare and say,
“….you have a shower in your kombi ..? Woahhhhh Big Grin
I respond with,
“……you paid how much for that….?….and it doesn’t have a hot shower?…..really? “  Tongue
Fortunately the crew up this way, mostly, can laugh at themselves.

Too old to be cold, Lorraine !

We too, had a slow combustion stove in the kitchen as kids and an open fire in a tiny lounge room with 7 kids and mum and dad all crammed in. Dad, always doing his best to keep us warm, used to make the fire so hot that a couple of us would end up sitting in the hallway to watch TV.
I don't think you're soft Lorraine, I think it's what we get used to because to me, right now 13 degrees sounds like summer! Big Grin

Watching from cliffs in Albany I couldn't resist trying to get a photo of some whales kilometers off shore. Although a speck needing to be teased from the photograph I was lucky to capture one of natures spectacular moments.
At 16 meters and 40 ton, the Humpback whale clears the water for a rare full breach flight - awesome moment.
