On the way home from 3 nights at Paynes Crossing. 
Sort of 15km from Wollombi. 

A Hipcamp that you get to yourself. 
There are 4 sites and all secluded and about an acre and a half each. 

Lots of birds and good bushwalking. 
And a trip back to Wollombi Tavern for a lunch

Broadwater Tourist Park. Nice spot looking across to the water. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. By chance found an excellent Mexican restaurant. Casa Mexicana. The best food and service from a young husband and wife team.
Went to the 'Outback Spectacular'. That was a good night as well. Impressed with the light show on the dirt floor showing the rivers running after rain. And then spent a gazilion at the Sanctuary Cove boat show. Well, saved a gazillion.

A few sites from our recent trip

I have posted Dubbo “How’s the Serenity” before so first up is Carinda Show Ground. 
Considering you are middle of nowhere, it’s quite good. 
A free site with clean ammenities with hot showers. 
Not swamped with RV’s
