Mine was welded to the bumper and the chassis where the cover plate under the pedal cluster is bolted on.
Butcher's job so now removed.

I have a stock bull bar as supplied with a Sopru Campmobile .

There are angles that run transversely between the bent tubing, front and rear.

The rear angle is bolted directly to the chassis members

The front angle is bolted to another angle that is concealed by the bumper. This angle is, in turn bolted to the “Duck Bill” compression section.
This one is a bit harder to make out…….

Hope that helps……
Cheers,
Mark

If it doesn't fit a Late Bay ('72 - '79), it is most likely for a Lowlight ('68 - '72).
'72 was a crossover year....low, front indicators but tall rectangular rear tail light assemblies and upper air intakes rather than the rear oval tail lights and curved intakes of the Lowlights.
Is that your bus in the pic ?
Looks like something has been modified to the front clip ....? From that angle it looks like the Duckbill has been cut off...? Would explain why that bar wouldn't fit......
Maybe if you could take a pic of the front so we can get a better idea...
Cheers,
Mark
