Drivers Licence Suspended!
#21
Some time ago we got a cancelletion notice for the registration on the '52 Chev subsequent to the plates being handed in. It was odd as the car was in getting a pink slip at the time and the plates still on it. So I got the plates and went up to the local, then, RTA at East Maitland with the cancellation letter which was from an RTA branch on the south coast.

Could not fault the service. They quickly resolved the issue and determined someone at the other branch had punched the wrong plate number in. Got lots of apologies.

I didn’t expect an answer, because I spoke in Spaniel, which is understood only by spaniels.

Could be worse, in SA they fine the vehicle owner, all camera offences, it seems the police over here don't actually pull cars over unless they are going to lock you up on the spot.Even if the fine is paid, they add points as well and cancel the regos of all the vehicles registered to that name when enough points have built up .... and, you have to pay at the counter to hand the paperwork over ..... if you don't, the fine triples and a knock at the door to collect said paperwork and fine $$ ...

Fortunately, I transferred all my vehicle regos to my wife's name, half the fines were hers but I wore them because I need her to have a licence to drive me home from the eye specialist after getting the needles in both eyes .....

If you don't have an SA licence, they generate a customer number with what would have been the licence number.

Same deal with the Karens, we drive some 2 hrs round trip, 150km, so we can use a Service SA office that doesn't have an OTT Karen in charge ....... but it is still a great state to live in  Big Grin

Long story but I ended up with 2 licenses.
#1 was cancelled due to an unpaid fine sent to old address.
#2 discovered when I went to register a new vehicle.
Had been 2 of me for years.
