Technical Information Resource Links
#1
Although I cannot confirm the accuracy of the content, I have found the following website links useful when researching technical information related to my Kombi. I know some of these links already appear elsewhere within this forum – but I thought it might be useful to start compiling them in one forum thread.

ClubVeeVub – Based in Sydney – has a great reference section.
https://www.clubvw.org.au/vwreference/

Rob & Dave’s Aircooled Volkswagen Pages – focus on Bugs rather than Buses but some great information here.
http://www.vw-resource.com/index.html

Ratwell.com website (based in USA) – massive amount of information
https://www.ratwell.com/

Thesamba.com website archives (based in USA )
In particular, the technical section
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/

For a great range of VW Manuals (mostly USA but includes a 1976 Sopru Owners Manual)

Glossary of VW terms

For Part Numbers and exploded assembly drawings

Go to typ2/syncro and select the year.

Also, rawtell’s microfiche collection

I agree that is a much more comprehensive list.  The Speedy Jim one below for fuel gauges is a big help. Ill add it here so it is in the same thread.

Speedy Jim's Home Page, Aircooled Electrical Hints

Electric Fuel Gauges (speedyjim.net)

There is a Facebook page called "VW Dealer Literature Library"
https://www.facebook.com/groups/664574928002723

Mostly German documents - but occasionally find something in English.
There are some Australian dealership broachers

Another one I have come across.

The ignition Distributor Spec link is amazing for looking up settings and the type originally fitted to various engines.

And a good ref for measurement for the RNR bed hinges.

Volksbolts is a supply company based in the UK.
In addition to their parts catalogue - the website has a good Technical & FAQ section.
http://www.volksbolts.com/faq.htm
[ Also have a facebook page -   https://www.facebook.com/volksbolts/]

Although the range of technical topics is limited - the depth of detail makes for some interesting reading.
Topics include;

  • Stainless steel bolts
  • Electrical Crimp Connectors
  • VW Codes
  • Fuel Hoses
  • Combustion Process & Ignition timing
  • Maintenance & modifications (mainly Beetle focused)

Some of these section links are referenced in other posts on this Kombi club forum.
Cheers,
Grant.

I know I've put it in other threads, but if anyone wants a PDF version of the Haynes or Bentley's manuals PM me and I can email them on. I also have a heap of others covering T3/Vanagon and other non Kombi VWs.
I'd rather share them around for everyone than hold onto them.
