Quote:Well its been a long time since I have been able to update anything with the Kombi due to wanting to get our house that we are building finished, we had a major push on the house before Christmas and then the bush fires didn't help as we lost around six weeks through the evacuations and the uncertainty, this week between jobs on the house I have spent some time here and there on the Kombi doing the repair on the rear deck above the fuel tank where it had been previously cut by someone to remove the fuel sender, a quick grind to remove the paint around the cut and then weld up the cut, some more grinding and a little body filler, and then paint, quite happy with the end result, I needed a little break as I was pretty much over house building and losing my drive, just this little job has been enough to get me back into the groove but not much more will be done on the Kombi now until I'm 100% finished with the house which I hope to have complete in the next few weeks, weather permitting, cheers Greg

Quote:Thanks Melissa and Wayne I think I burnt more holes than make a good weld, not used to this thin panel welding, and I haven't really done much welding since we left to come down five and a half years ago, so I have a lot of learning to do again when I finally get back playing full time in the shed, David you know the fuel tank is out and in the shed racking so no big risk, as you know I have owned Kombi's since I was 20 so over 40 years and this is the first time I have ever had to get into the fuel tank compartment, I also didn't like the butchered hatch that was there and I don't think one is needed, or for that matter another opening above a fuel tank into the cabin, besides I have confidence that I have diagnosed my issue and the fuel sender will work this time around for another 40 years so it will be the next owners problem, hopefully one of my kids that I can clue up before my next big adventure, wherever that will be, cheers Greg
