Today I got down and dirty, I'm cleaning up all of the tinware ready for some new paint and I also got the fuel tank out and gave the engine bay and inside where the tank sits a good scrub, forgot to take a pic of the engine bay before I started but it was pretty crusty, there was plenty of red dust in under the fuel tank so looks like it has had a visit to the outback at some stage in its life, very happy with how it all cleaned up, I also removed for the first time the dodgy piece of work someone had done when they replaced the fuel sender, the cut out under it wasn't as bad as I thought it might have been but the hole was a long way off the actual sender, I might have a go if I get time and try and make it better somehow because I hate looking at it, also got some exact measurements of where a cut out needs to be if you want to go down that path I will ad them to the fuel sender thread when I get a chance, cheers Greg

In a Volkswagen book it does tell you the requirements.I put the photo here onetrackwonder and you can move them over if you wish and add any comment required.

Thanks Wayne, I'm curious to see how my dimensions stack up to these, I went off the inside edge of the engine lid, will have a look tomorrow and see how close I was, cheers Greg
