Question
I am restoring my 1976 bay window kombi .

the front driver side wheel arch has a steel pipe,  running through the body then connects to hose .

Could someone please advise what this components function is, and if a replacement is available.

cheers, Jackson

Should be a grommets where the pipe goes into the dog leg section and another grommets where it goes through the wheel well firewall. Section just so you know. !

Heavily rusted and both extremes of the pipe section .

You can buy the grommets, never looked to see if you can buy the pipe section! I’ll have to do some looking to see if you can. Like Rick said easier enough to make it required.

Does it have to be a steel pipe?

Probably not but it’s exposed to anything the wheel would flick up……gravel etc. and so would need to be abrasion resistant …
