What's up!

OK - I’ll ask.
What’s the mod?

Is it an alternator or an electric motor?

I am assuming a motor as it has picked Terry’s interest.

Never seen a “hybrid” mod before?

That's a 140A alternator off a nissan hr15 motor. My plan was to go with an electric ac compressor but due to lack of info across the internet I'm still a bit hesitant.

However I am going to install a music system that will use just over a 100A so I'll be covered.
I've load this set up with approx 40A instantaneous draw with two viair air compressors I use in my beetle for air suspension and no slip or squeel on the belt and just a little noticeable drop in rpm.

If I do the same with just one compressor in the bug with an original bosch 50A alt it draws it down almost till the engine stalls.

I can adjust the belt engagement/depth on the gen with shims and overall belt tension with the adjustable tensioner I installed.

It's set to the "normal" ½ inch play right now and I can't spin the gen pulley by hand so I believe it has proper surface engagement...time will tell when I really load it up, but belt tension can be easily adjusted if need be.
