Just to confirm. Are both the paints the same type? I mean an acrylic red will not smell like an enamel blue. A red water colour is unlikely to smell like the blue being sprayed in the the booth at the auto repairs.

And red wine... Never mind.

AND, if like a large quantity of males, that have the Red/Green colour blindness, they would in fact not see the red & blue paint, and would only see grey & blue…

But colour blindness does not affect the sense of smell, so……never mind.
