For the NSW voters tomorrow:

Lynne and I will be voting at Largs Primary school in the afternoon where there will be a queue of 2 people (Lynne and myself) and no party apparachiks to avoid. Unfortunately they don't do a BBQ so no democracy sausages. If we decide to go for a longer drive we might go to Vacy or Elderslie. Walking to the booth? Closest one is close to 10kms away. Doable I guess but time is limited and brown snakes are common.

Of course that's after the far more important issue of taking Georgiana Darcy to the vet (nothing serious though)

I haven’t seen a single eastern brown snake this season…….. but I did replace all the solar snake deterrents at the end of winter last year.

I have a bunch installed, and really have no idea how effective they are, if at all, but even if they deter even a few from venturing to close, that’s a few less I figure!

I've considered these but don't have them. I have only seen one brown at home this season and Lynne has seen another (I had to get her breathing again properly - she is not good with snakes). Maybe they all drowned in the floods (doubtful). Of course there ain't no deterrents out on the road and it's a good rural stretch from here to walk to the polling booth.

Probably not drowned, (that’s just hopeful), but we do seem to get more visits during drier drought times, seeking water no doubt.

The third wet summer, and seasons in between here, has possibly allowed them to live comfortably in their usual areas……. Away from us!

We had the high river level chase out anything that lived along the river edges. A few wriggly sticks were seen on a few houseboats at the marina and there were a few sightings of them crossing the road between our place and town, before the road went under anyway. No serious encounters, the snakes just wanted some where safe and above the water line, the houseboats presented a bit of a problem because it was at least 200 mtrs to dry land, so if they had to abandon one boat, they quickly found another :lol: I wonder how many found a boat with no one on board and have set up house? Those now returning to their houseboats after waiting the flood out till the road reappeared and the gate was opened might find unexpected guests in the battery compartments and cupboards etc, they won't be so ready to leave after setting up camp for a few mths
