You have to troll through the rubbish to find some sensible posts, but it does appear that these conversions are not as long lasting as I first thought.
There is a lot of information about problems with reversing the diff on many other makes of diff. You are powering on the side of the diff that it was never designed for. I never knew that this was a problem but it does make sense.
