back in the old days i worked at Home Hill and it was north of Bowen...heheh how times change!
With map held right way up departed Home Hill and headed to Townsville, then turned left to start the hunt for Dinosaurs in the central west. Had lunch at Charters Towers (lovely old gold mining town) and made it to the Campaspe River Rest Area. No dinosaurs sighted yet.
Got out of bed and headed west to Hughendon and turned right, aiming for Porcupine Gorge NP. Only saw a few hints of dinosaurs, so soaked up the landscape. I hear dinosaurs are close.
Traveled quite a few km west from Hughendon and found dinosaurs in Winton. Jeez, what a straight road from Hughendon to Winton. Measured 19.5km in one stretch. Finally got there to find Dinosaurs and GUINNESS on tap, and back yard camping at the Tattersalls Hotel, so oh so very happy. Oh and dinosaurs are BIG.
Took a gamble and ran away to Shoal Bay for a few days, just up the road. Perfect weather, food and booze. Perhaps not the best piccie, but best coffee, home made scones, jam and cream at Marine Rescues tea room.  Similar view from the Game Fishing Club Diner. [attachment=1868][attachment=1868]. Saw 2 two T2 kombis. One had it's roof cut to be a boozer as Kom Bar. The other was a perfect example micro-bus in blue and white.
Cape Hillsborough, north of Mackay.
View of the beach from the campsite. No swimming of course. If you squint, you can see the Whitsundays in the distance.

A Sopru doing what it should Smile .

A funny change to our worlds as this country town no longer has a takeaway food shop that we were relying on but get to the park & there's a food van with delicacies & sat morning a coffee van. Ooh la la! :-)

Cheers
