Just wondering if you can roll up on the day due to possible conflict with family events and if you can bring your pooch?
As its at the Sporties Club, yet I assume outside, I am not sure either way.

If one or two do that (and perhaps arrive right at the starting time rather than being late), it'll probably work out. Especially if there is a dropout or two. However, part of the reason for registration is to help with catering for lunch and with planning the spacing of the kombis, so if a bunch of people do it then that would create problems.
