Rebuild or new carbs? 2.0L
#1
My carbs are in need of a rebuild and new chokes. Should I consider getting aftermarket carbs? I live in Bathurst, it’s my daily driver, and winters mean I need a choke. What do you suggest?

You should get the originals rebuilt

Contact Andrew in Adelaide - 1500king on here. Volksdoktor on FB

I will have a spare set in a couple of weeks you could buy.
Then you could send them away and do a swap over.

Otherwise, new Webers are about $2,500 a set with CSP manifolds and linkage.
Plus jetting.

In my opinion, do NOT buy EMPI, knock off, no name carbs.
You use it as a daily driver and you will only end up in tears going the cheap route

Thank you Barry. This is what I wanted to hear. I think these buses are better off with factory equipment, but I don't know much about carbs.

I would be very interested in buying your spare set of carbs if they suit the 2.0L type 4 engine...

I am currently getting a 2L rebuilt and won’t be using the original carbs.
I am going the Weber route.

I should be getting it back before the end of year.
It is in Qld and I’m in Sydney.

Once I get it back I will check the numbers and let you know what I have

I recently had my original Solex carburetor and Bosch distributor rebuilt by 1500king (Andrew) . It made huge difference to the drivability of my bus. As mentioned by Barry above, I would highly recommend contacting him if you do decide to stick with the original carburetors.
