I have been quite time poor lately, and issues with both kombis and we are leaving today for a two week holiday overseas.
Spoke with Nils and the old one wasn’t that bad.
But the micro switch was all gummed up.
Apparently it has never had a cover?
It’s underneath so you wouldn’t know looking at it.
New one does
So with all that dirt driving, no wonder I had issues
The new throttle body seems to go well……….except once or twice when I kick down (I have an auto) it stuck at wide open.
I couldn’t work out WTF was going on and my mechanic that did the work had taken off for a couple of month holiday.
Being an auto it isn’t just a matter of undoing the accelerator cable and checking for movement in throttle body.
Autos have this weird set up of a spring and an E circlip so I have found out.
While scouring the internet trying to find out the best way to get it off, I came across 1 comment that said “don’t make the mistake I made where you end up with the throttle body getting stuck in the wide open position”
It is so easy to bend the spring that goes through the lever arm a “poofteenth” that it causes it to become stuck.
So….. there ya go.
Who would’ve known.
