Steering box
#13
(15-06-2024, 10:39 AM)Mark D Wrote: So I've got the front end back together after replacing everything and I've tried spinning the wheel lock to lock (bus is on stands with no wheels) and all the way to the right gives me a solid clunk when it hits full lock, but all the way to the left gives me a spongy stop at full lock. Is this still a steering box issue? Or is it more of a draglink adjustment, and how is it supposed to feel when hitting full lock? Having never driven this (or any other) kombi in my life, I'm not sure what the norm is... any advice welcome

make sure the steering box is exactly in the middle when the wheels are straight ahead
the hard finish clunk on one side and not the other may be the adjustable stops on the beam stopping the bell crank from allowing the pitman shaft from hammering the steering box housing at its end
