Have a look here - beetle but same story.

I have not actually done it - but those adjusters seem to be at maximum up??

Maybe you have dropped spindles as well?

Yes Barry I'm thinking the same that the adjusters are at maximum and there's no more upward movement.

No drop spindles.

....just playing Devil's advocate.....(and I have absolutely no experience with adjustable beams......)
Could it be that it's actually at maximum drop ? ie at its possible lowest setting ?

That link that Barry posted was really easy to follow for adjustment......& I could see it being easy to miss the upper beam arm adjuster/lock nut setup too.
Just a thought.

Yes I'll be doing that in the next couple of days. Been renewing the rear end gearbox and drive axles, gear selector linkages, engine mounts and new clutch.

Let us know how you get on....it's how we all learn here.

Thanks everyone for their input. The beam adjusters were at the lowest point so after a bit of leverage I was able move them to a higher setting.

Ahhh ….. so my thinking was upside down.

Could not shift mine when I tried some years ago.

Did you try both sets of lock nuts ?
ie top and bottom horizontal beam sections....
