Hey all, we now have a Bus Stop 2023 sub-forum for you to post your stories and pics from Strathalbyn in.
Please rattle thorough your memories and cameras/phones and post something up to show those that could not make it how great this year’s event was.
Ok………… *sigh*

I drove to the dinner because we had Stan.

Anyway, I pull up and another dubber was there saying “sh!t, I can smell petrol”
Me thinking, it couldn’t possibly be me, the van is running perfect.
Anyway, it was me.

Big shout to a great dubber Oldman for helping me.
I’m under the van asking Mark to start it and I get a mouthful.
“There’s the leak”
The return line had come out.

This story goes on for ever.
But the line gets put back and all is good.

Until……. I try to drive away

I lost so much fuel I ran out 100m away.

Terry, Wombat Adventures, (my new knight in shining armour) is walking by says “I’ll get my type3 and we will get some fuel”
So we do that and after an hr of trying to crank it and 432 phone calls to Terry from someone saying “where the duck are you” I said “duck off - I’ll call RAA”

By this time it’s midnight.

They turn up in 10 minutes, and I explain it just won’t start, so I go to show them.
BANG…… first turn. Starts.

That said, the next day we went feral driving to Rufus.
200 km of the most feral road I have been on and would have been a pisser if it happened there.
Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Barry, you are letting down the “ever reliable T3 brotherhood” buddy!

Like a new Rolls Royce, you should have kept quiet, and have it uplifted at midnight, in a covered truck, to a local repairer!  Wink
Beat me to it !!
They're my pics that I HAD to take while we sorted out the issue....couldn't resist   Tongue
So….. here I am thinking all is well.

This is what we we’re driving on

It was the most feral road I have driven on.
HARD correlation.
Got through the day and camped at Wompinni Station, Rufus

Headed off the next day, to Mildura.
Almost…….. made it back onto tar when I hear a real metal tearing noise.

Quickly I thought “that’s the clam shell”
A T3 has the spare wheel at the front.
I had been bouncing so much, the bolt holds no the shell closed had come out and the shell was scraping along the road.

As I had lost the bolt, I threw the spare in the back with Stan and cable tied the shell closed.

The world was good and I was cruising off.
An hour or so later I was thinking……. If the spare had grabbed on a correlation in the road, there isn’t enough room under the car for the wheel to “roll”

That would me I would have………

The kombi god was smiling on me again
Wondered if you were going to throw me under the bus and post them or force me to “walk the plank”

I finally walked
That type of "road" looks all too familiar to me Barry ...I feel your pain  Wink
I reckon I washed a couple of kilos of that red dust out from under/on/over my kombi when I got home......

Is your bus missing the safety clip on the clam shell, that holds it up after you undo the bolt? (The spring loaded hook, with a ring pull, that stops the clam shell dragging on the road, if the bolt is not there, and holds the shell high enough, to then fit the bolt) Rolleyes

Enjoying the pics of the adventure….keep them coming!  Cool
Grant, yes, it has the clip and stuff.

But the road was THAT bad it just vibrated out.
I didn’t trust just pushing it up and relying on the clip.

Like all good safety kits, I carry a selection of cable ties, so I secured the clam with these.
I didn’t want to trust the weight of the wheel on these so it was easy enough to throw the spare in the back.

I had to panel beat the tang back flat when I got home and fitted a new high tensile bolt
