Insulating middle heater pipe - baliboy.schroeder - 27-04-2024 Hi all , I wish to insulate my heater tube and was thinking to wrap the pipe with insulwool that is used between house walls and then wrap this with a canvas. Any thoughts please. I don`t know how hot the pipe gets , don`t want a fire. I will test the pipe with a drive tomorrow. Regards Klaus RE: Insulating middle heater pipe - Barry - 28-04-2024 Would’ve better if you could get some rockwool RE: Insulating middle heater pipe - baliboy.schroeder - 28-04-2024 (28-04-2024, 11:28 AM)Barry Wrote: Would’ve better if you could get some rockwool That could be an option, as I haven`t installed anything as yet. The heater tube was only luke warm after a long drive today. May even just wrap the heater tube with canvas and carpet underlay. Thanks for the response RE: Insulating middle heater pipe - Mordred - 29-04-2024 It is definitely hotter the closer to heater valves. Once you get past the Y section it would be very unlikely to be hot enough to catch fire, but rock wool would be a better option to remove any possibility. If you want to use carpet underlay I would be using 100% wool based, not jute as it is more flammable and if it gets wet it rots (remember there is only heat through the pipe when the valves are open).
