I buy the R9 5.6mm from Advanced Fluid Solutions ... https://www.advancedfluidsolutions.co.uk/56mm-id-732-saej30r9-nitrile-rubber-fuel-injection-hose-sae-r9-627-p.asp

looked on a couple of forums and people are happy with this stuff (same seller and 4 x the cost so might be good [Image: smile.png])

There's also this Cohline German 2240.0400 hose which is made to a DIN 73379-3E standard which exceeds the SAE J30 R9 standard. I like this more because I can see the brand and get a data sheet. It's also made from FPM (viton) rather than nitrile rubber and it's 5.5 mm like the original hoses rather than 5.6 mm (not that 0.1mm would make any noticeable difference!)

Cohline 2240 specification

Another Cohline link showing the hose can handle E100 whereas R9 hoses cannot

You'll also notice in that last link that this hose is supplied to VW for new vehicles.

Nice. As you've probably noticed I've been a bit slow on the uptake here. I've been distracted working on the kombi  Big Grin

Here's a snip of the data sheet for the Cohline 2240.0400.

The VW part number is the same as the 1976 microfiche!

Interesting discussion and information on this Youtube video:

Choosing the best RUBBER fuel hose for your home built aircraft

The subject of permeation of Ethanol, and its effect on life of fuel hose, is very relevant to VWs as we all know we're supposed to change them often to help avoid engine bay fires. HomeBuiltHelp is saying the R7 hose is good for a few years (but doesn't suit fuel injected engines) whilst the R9 could be used for 10 years or more!
